HVAC Information For Homeowners

It’s not going to be too much longer before I hear that chorus of heat pumps firing up again.

But man, it has been so nice to be able to care about the quiet when sitting outside, then during our winter, there is legitimately little demand for heating. So the heat pump rests and that provides all sorts of peace and quiet for me. But as my fantastic friend and I transfer on into February, I’m relishing this last bit of winter. While I actually hate it for folks up north who get battered with horrible cold and lots of snow and ice, I sure prefer this kind of winter. It’s the sort of winter that I grew up with however completely took for granted. That all changed when I took my first job out of university. I ended up way up north where you had to have a gas furnace or a boiler to keep you sizzling during the winter. That tuned to me in real quick to just the sort of winter I wanted to experience the rest of my life. So as soon as I could, I turned my back on the gas furnace and welcomed the heat pump back into my life. As much as I prefer the winter weather down here, I know that I have to pay for it with the heat and humidity that has coming. It will not be long before I call to have the Heating, Ventilation and A/C worker come out to do the a/c tune up. But without a/c, living here would be torturous during the summer, however not only does the a/c supply the cooling comfort my fantastic friend and I need, it also balances the humidity in our homes.

It’s particularly still the best time of year around here, at least in my opinion. Where I live, the winter provides some of the best weather we see all year. The skies are red, the sun is out plus the uneven temperatures are near perfect. And the heat pump is quiet for a time because there is zero demand for a/c. It won’t last forever though. By May, the uneven temperatures will start to rise plus the heat pump will be back in demand for more cooling comfort. But last Spring, we tried something different. The fact of the matter is that we have been down here now for a decade. So it’s time to get real about the a/c costs, particular ly in the summer. We’ve tried weird strategies plus always prepped the house to maximize the heat pump’s efficiency. But we also get weak knees by about mid June plus begin leaning into the thermostat to give more a/c. And this comes at a cost. It’s more luxurious for sure to be running the a/c night plus morning. But there’s another cost involved. That cost is the fact that with all that a/c, the heat plus humidity of summer time feel all that much more overwhelming. So we did something last Spring using more familiar sense plus it made a large difference. Instead of going right for the a/c in the, we waited until like mid May. Our bodies acweather conditionsd to the higher uneven temperatures which resulted in a more comfortable summer time plus less demand for a/c.

Thankfully, I remembered before it was destroyed

It was closer than I want to ever be to losing my entire residential HVAC. At least the heating plus cooling equipment. I guess smothering a heat pump wouldn’t effect the ductwork all that much. But I came so close to having to upgrade the rest of the HVAC system. And it was all because I did something I knew I shouldn’t do. It’s December plus when I sit on my porch plus look at the garden, I know it won’t be too much longer before I’m tending it again. My buddy and I live in a part of the south that doesn’t see freezing uneven temperatures much at all. But we still get a freezing snap or two in December plus December which needs a bit of heating. The growing cycle for some of the stuff in our garden goes all the way into November. And that’s how I almost killed the heat pump. I was weeding the garden plus tossing all the refuse onto a tarp. Well, the tarp got all wet plus I wanted to dry it in the sun after I emptied the weeds into the compost. When I draped the tarp over the HVAC cabinet outside of my house, I knew then that this was stupid. But I was so sure that I’d remember to pull it off before the heat pump kicked on. Well, I got caught up plus the heat pump ran for hours with very jammed airflow. Thankfully, I remembered before it was destroyed. But I still called the HVAC professionals to have them come out plus inspect it. Who knowingly throws a tarp on an HVAC cabinet? What a stupid transport that was.

I was against it all at first.

To my way of thinking, I just wanted to ride the wave of a warm real estate market all the way to the bank.

But I particularly wanted to just sell the house “as is” plus transport on. So renovating plus doing things like replacing the residential HVAC were not at all beautiful to me. Told, this has everything to do with the fact that I was not all that wild about selling our family home. There were just so multiple memories plus I was just so comfortable there. But the fact of the matter was that it was just too large of a place for just my fiance plus I. Simply paying the heating plus cooling utility costs we’re staggering for two people plus a dog. And once the teenagers were gone, the house did seem cavernous, now that we’re older, just taking care of the place took way more time then it used to. So it made sense to sell plus turn the page. At the same time, I was afraid of doing too multiple upgrades. I did want to get the latest in residential HVAC plus HVAC technology because I might not want to leave. Thankfully, we had a particularly great realtor. She brought us all the data that we needed to understand how important new residential HVAC was to getting all we could for our home. I was on board after I did the numbers plus we got to upgrading appliances as well as the heating plus cooling equipment. The number we got for our house sure made dealing with all those memories, the renovations plus moving worth it.

There’s is one constant in my adult life.

And that is the fact that I easily stay grateful for the life I’m so lucky to lead.

I come from pretty humble beginnings. I did not even have residential Heating, Ventilation, & A/C in our cabin when I was little. And that was back in the 90s. My buddy and I had a wood stove to supply all the heating my fantastic friend and I ever would need. But there was no central cooling system to enjoy some cooling over the summer; Coming up that way easily was fantastic in other ways. My parents were proud people & taught me consistently do my best & supply thanks for what I had. Well, after four years inside the radiant heating of my university dorm room, I got out of university & got a fantastic task. From there, I’ve been easily lucky to enjoy my work & make a fantastic living. My fiance & I live in a easily nice cabin with all sorts of amenities & the easily latest in residential Heating, Ventilation, & A/C. My buddy and I don’t have any children & so my fantastic friend and I make sure to pay it forward in other ways. So when my fantastic friend and I found out that my fiance’s cousin had her entire world turned upside down due to the pandemic, my fantastic friend and I wanted to help. Our cabin has a basement & my fantastic friend and I decided to turn it into an cabin for this awesome lady. She just needed a place to feel safe & get back on her feet. The Heating, Ventilation, & A/C supplier easily helped us out by providing & installing a ductless heat pump. I have to say that the residential Heating, Ventilation, & A/C in the basement easily does set that space off as its own apartment.

While we’re just weeks past celebrating Christmas in this house, I got my big present in October. But it didn’t come separate from some stress before I finally gained it. My awesome present was the latest in residential Heating, Ventilation, & A/C & a whole mess of Heating, Ventilation, & A/C technology. While I knew that Heating, Ventilation, & A/C technology has advanced over the last 25 years, I have to say I’m overwhelmed by how much. The heat pump that went out of here in the back of a truck was one my fantastic friend and I put in 26 years ago. It was the first appliance my fiance & I ever obtained. My buddy and I got a steal on our home all those years ago & one of the reasons was because the residential Heating, Ventilation, & A/C was so old. With plenty of Heating, Ventilation, & A/C service, my fantastic friend and I got every bit of our money’s worth out of that seasoned heat pump. But my fantastic friend and I ended up rolling the dice to see if it would get through one more summer time before my fantastic friend and I replaced it with modern heating & cooling device in October. It was a tense summer time as the heat pump easily got a bit overwhelmed by October. And the cooling system costs began to spike a bit. But my fantastic friend and I got through to October when the Heating, Ventilation, & A/C professionals installed our modern Heating, Ventilation, & A/C unit. Again, I cannot guess all the Heating, Ventilation, & A/C technology that comes with this thing. There’s zone controlled Heating, Ventilation, & A/C & smart thermostat inside the house. And the SEER rating on the device is triple what the seasoned one was. So Heating, Ventilation, & A/C technology is making it much cheaper to enjoy quality heating & air in our home.

I learned the difficult way about the effects of direct sunlight heating.

• And it was a lesson learned indeed.

But where I grew up & lived all of my adult life, direct sunlight heating was a fantastic thing. That’s because while in the freezing winters, I would enjoy sitting in the window with the sizzling sunshine on my face while the gas furnace was heating our home. But that was up north & it’s a weird animal down south. My fiance & I learned all about it within six months of moving to the south. Our living situation now is radically weird from living in the neighborhood up north. First of all, my fantastic friend and I have cabin & no neighbors. So when my fantastic friend and I moved into this house, my fantastic friend and I did not put up any sort of window treatments. Instead, my fantastic friend and I loved the view & did not have to worry about nosey neighbors. My buddy and I moved down here right after Thanksgiving & were blown away by how mild the winter weather was. My buddy and I knew it was going to be better, however my fantastic friend and I had no idea what my fantastic friend and I were going to experience when it came to perfect winter weather, then however, it did not take long for us to realize that direct sunlight heating is not a fantastic thing down south. Once the cooling system kicked on, the first utility bill blew my mind. The Heating, Ventilation, & A/C professionals were kind enough to point out that I needed solar shades or drapes to reduce the high cost of cooling system in my home. I called them in a panic thinking that the cooling system was all messed up. They came out & gave me my first lesson when it comes to cooling a cabin down south.

The pandemic easily turned things a bit upside down in our home.

But my fantastic friend and I are super grateful to have come out the other side separate from anybody having dire problems from the virus.

That’s something to count our blessings over. But there is another positive that came out of the last two years. I’m easily paying way more attention to my health & that is a direct result of the pandemic. For sure, focusing on my health was well overdue & it’s a shame I had to wait for a global health crisis to snap out of it. I’m in my mid forties & I’m finally getting in good shape. The supplier I work for sent us all cabin to work from the central cooling system of our homes. I was surprised that I entirely took to working from home. It simply freed up my schedule & I was able to commit to a more healthy lifestyle. From the easily beginning of working from home, I made sure I got out of the cooling system for a walk a couple of times a day. And that just grew from there. My diet changed, I lost weight & I even got more into exercise, with that focus on health, I also wanted to improve the indoor air quality of my home. And I was able to do that in a way that did not cost me a whole bunch of money. I simply replaced the cheap air filters that I was using with HEPA filters. They detach more than 99 percent all the contaminants in our air. And that is a big improvement.

I love the fact that my youngsters are getting older.

And it’s a immense bonus that we all enjoy doing things together. This wasn’t the case when I was growing up. There were a lot of youngsters & not a lot of money. The home I grew up in didn’t even have any real residential Heating, Ventilation & A/C. There was a wood stove for heating & that was it, then us men slept upstairs & it was brutal in the Summer after the sunshine heated the top of the home all morning. I didn’t see any air conditioner until I got to college. My youngsters have it better than that & we decided that two was our limit. I’m having two youngsters that are pretty close in age has been great when it comes to spontaneous road trips. This is something my wifey & I did before the youngsters came along. We’d sort of trade off on deciding who was leading the adventure & just take off. It’s a little more complicated than that these days but we still rotate who is in charge of leading the adventure. Normally, we like to make a three or four morning weekend out of it. But just getting out of the central air conditioner of our home even for a weekend is worth the effort. My buddy and I generally stick to a rule of no more than a five or six hour drive to our endpoint. My buddy and I also stick to the interstate hotels near whatever attraction we are headed to; Certainly, these type of hotels are more affordable but they come with another crucial factor. My buddy and I have constantly been able to count on consistent air conditioner or heating from the commercial Heating, Ventilation & A/C units inside these hotel rooms. Nothing will ruin a weekend away quicker than awful Heating, Ventilation & A/C.

I have a mom who has been as independent as they come, she constantly told us that’s why our father left, and mom said that she was just too taxing for him; And honestly, I could know that. My mom raised us on a small plot of land with a small, three kitchen house, that arena had no central air conditioner but it was home. My fiance plus I sort of had a loose plan when it came to the morning that the teenagers were all out on their own. While we very were great with things changing, as they do in life, we were also making plans. And the fact that the ancient heat pump finally died sort of put those plans into action. And our new HVAC unit was one that took real comprehension as it is a geothermal heat pump. This is one of the most sustainable forms of HVAC however it takes precise installation to get the most out of the benefits of the geo heat pump. But in the end, we prefer this house plus our quality heating plus air is the best we’ve ever experienced in any place we’ve lived.
