Where we live, we can get some rather extreme weather.
- Mainly, that comes in the form of some very strong storms.
We’ve always been very ready for power outages and such. I mean, nobody wants to go without HVAC while they are fixing the power. But that’s sort of part of it. We have a solar generator that at least provides light, a fan and we can also hook up a computer or recharge the phones as well. And then, we just sit it out in the sun and it recharges. Between that solar generator and the cooking on our gas grill, we are pretty set until the lights are back on. Sometimes that can take a day and sometimes it can be a week or more. There was one storm a few years ago that was particularly bad and caused a lot of damage. A neighbor had some damage to the HVAC equipment outside. He told me he was going with a local handyman for the fix instead of waiting for the HVAC professionals to get to him. I tried to warn him that this wasn’t the best of idea at all. But there was not stopping him at all. And the as soon as the lights came back on, the handyman did his thing. Unfortunately, that fix lasted less than a week. And the handyman did not guarantee the work so my neighbor was just out of luck. The good thing was that the HVAC professionals were able to fix the HVAC equipment in his house and fix it right. Oh and those HVAC professionals do guarantee their work!
