She is still very capable, but I like to help wherever I can. I noticed that her furnace appeared to be operating differently. The fan on the furnace seemed to be blowing constantly. I wasn’t sure what caused the problem. I checked the air filters and realized that it had been a long time since I had cleaned them. The filters were clogged and needed to be changed. When I changed the filter, the problem persisted. I knew that there must have been damage done to the limit switch causing it to malfunction. This can happen as a result of leaving filters clogged for too long. As much as I like to take care of my mom’s home repairs on my own, I knew that I needed to call a heating and cooling professional. There is simply no safe way to replace a limit switch if you are not a certified HVAC professional. I called a local HVAC company and made an appointment. They sent an HVAC technician over later that week and he was able to replace the limit switch. Now, I have to do a better job of changing the filters so that there is no other future damage.
