We are going to be building an addition onto our house this summer once the kids get finished up with school at the end of this month.
I’m so excited about it that I can’t even stand it because we have been waiting to do this for years now. I have wanted to have an extra living area and an extra bedroom for a while now and the time has finally come! We are hiring our general contractor this week and we have already picked out the local HVAC company that we want to use for the HVAC part of the addition. I know that our current HVAC system in the house will not be able to support the heating and cooling that we will need in the addition, so we’re going to use an HVAC contractor to install something that will work. I’ve been doing some reading on the subject, and I think that our best bet would be to get something called a ductless mini split heating and cooling system. If we get one of these then we will not have to add any additional ductwork and that is what I am hoping for. I don’t want to have to mess up the ceilings that we are going to be putting in and if we use ductwork, then we will have to lower the ceilings some or raise the roof. Any time you have to make a change like that, you end up having to spend more money. That’s something that I would like to avoid if it’s at all possible.
