When I was talking to our Dad one evening, he told me that he’d always dreamed of having a primary family room with a fireplace.
A fireplace in a family room was considered a luxury when he was growing up and it was hard to find homes with fireplaces in the primary family room, then my parents had no plans of moving anytime soon and they didn’t want to spend a ton of money on a fireplace replacement, this was understandable because a fireplace replacement would be a major renovation, but I thought this was a absolutely sweet dream of my Dad to have and I also knew how attainable it could be. I couldn’t afford to deliver him a wood burning fireplace, however I could get him an electric one. The local hardware store carried various electric heating systems and they seemed manageable. I didn’t think about how to install one though and I didn’t want my parents to worry about it, so I hired someone to deliver the fireplace and install it for me. My Dad was really surprised when the delivery truck arrived and started carrying an electric fireplace inside. I told him that I’d bought him one so he could live out his dream of having an electric fireplace inside his primary family room. He was happy and I was happy to see him so happy. The professionals did a wonderful job at hooking everything up and mourning it to the wall. After sealing the edges, the fireplace looked like it had been a part of the house for years. I’m so happy with how it turned out.
