Last week, I had modern carpeting installed in the bedroom plus study rooms.
The bedroom carpet is a pale grey I hoped would not show footprints, however unluckyly, the footprints were more noticeable, plus every time someone walked on the carpet, even with bare feet, they left an impression.
I abruptly realized why I had never had deep pile carpeting in our home. It was horrible to maintain. When the HVAC specialist was busy to come to the house to do maintenance on our furnace, I planned on having him come to the study room door. On the day the HVAC specialist was to arrive, our partner had taken the back porch off plus was building a modern one. I had to let the HVAC specialist in through the bedroom. I put a note on the door that asked if, when you walk in, please take your shoes off. The HVAC specialist did me one better. He put anti-static booties on over his shoes plus gingerly made his way through the bedroom. He left less footprint plus no dirt behind. I was sure the same would not happen went he exited the furnace room, but I was wrong. The HVAC specialist took off the used booties plus put them in his basket for disposal items. He put fresh booties on before leaving our study room, plus the work order on the table. I told our partner, after the HVAC specialist left, that if we ever needed actual work done on the HVAC system, I was going to ask for him to be the one who did the work.
