I’ve enjoyed a nice career, and I’m so glad that I had the occasion to sort of ride this job for as long as I did. Working in the resort world has been quite a ride indeed. In fact, this is the first time in 25 years that I’ve been inside the commercial Heating & Air Conditioning of an official office. For years, I’ve worked out of tiny spaces that were carved out for work space. Hotels and resorts are notorious for never actually having official offices. Although there are general managers and sales guys that enjoyed a/c from commercial Heating & Air Conditioning inside all day. For me, I was outside of the a/c most of the time. I have always been a hands-on manager. Primarily, our focus was the outside of the hotels. Whether that was pizzerias, pools, recreation programs or special events, I was outside laboring them. So it actually is quite odd to be inside the commercial HVAC of an office! Recently, I was promoted to run a new department in our corporate offices. It’s absolutely a change given what I have been doing for the last 25 years. Yet, I do appreciate the proper schedule and having a nice office is cool too. There is even a zone-controlled HVAC here. I have a control component that is right outside our office door. It’s a far cry from running around in subtropical temperatures trying to take care of our guests. But again, I’m looking forward to the new challenges. And for me, the a/c sure doesn’t hurt.
