There was a snake by the boiler

I confirmed that the boiler was finished when he asked

One thing I cannot tolerate is being near a snake. I don’t mind it so much as long as it doesn’t block my path when I’m on foot. I don’t want to be trapped in a room with one, and I especially don’t want one in the boiler room with me. A week ago, something similar occurred to me. I had to visit a farm in order to inspect the boiler. I had been there before, and my conversations with the fiance were always highlights of my visit. I arrived, and he was there to greet me with a handshake and a grin. When I told him I had located the boiler, he told me to meet him in the barn. He came into the living room an hour later and yelled down at me, but I was still immobile. While working on the boiler, a snake coiled around my legs and rendered me immobile. Since it was staring directly at me, I was too terrified to say anything. I was kneeling by the boiler when the farmer came down. As he approached, he indicated that I should remain seated while he dealt with the snake. He approached me slowly, wearing thick gloves. He carefully unwrapped the snake from my leg and carried it outside after grabbing it by the head. I confirmed that the boiler was finished when he asked. As he led me upstairs, I followed him to the restroom. He said I looked like I could benefit from a faceful of ice water. Even though the snake was harmless, it still scared the living daylights out of me.
