Direct sunshine heating will play havoc with air conditioner costs

I learned the tough way about the effects of direct sunshine heating.

And it was a lesson learned indeed.

But where I grew up and lived all of my adult life, direct sunshine heating was a good thing. That’s because while in the cold winters, I would appreciate resting in the window with the hot sunshine on my face while the gas heating system was heating our home. But that was up north and it’s a unusual pet down south. My husband and I learned all about it within six months of moving to the south. Our residing situation now is radically unusual from residing in the town up north. First of all, my friend and I have apartment and no neighbors. So when my friend and I moved into this house, my friend and I did not put up any sort of window treatments. Instead, my friend and I enjoyed the view and did not have to worry about nosey neighbors. My buddy and I moved down here right after Thanksgiving and were blown away by how mild the winter season weather was. My buddy and I knew it was going to be better, but my friend and I had no idea what my friend and I were going to experience when it came to perfect winter season weather, however, it did not take long for us to realize that direct sunshine heating is not a good thing down south. Once the air conditioner kicked on, the first utility bill blew my mind. The Heating and Air Conditioning professionals were kind enough to point out that I needed solar shades or drapes to reduce the high cost of air conditioner in my home. I called them in a panic thinking that the air conditioner was all messed up. They came out and gave me my first lesson when it comes to cooling a house down south.
