Before we made an offer on this house, I wanted to be sure that we were both grasping reality.

For sure, this was the house of houses and we wanted it so much.

But it was also at the very limit of our budget. So we spent time inside the HVAC cooling talking it over to be sure that we were prepared for this. It was perfect. It’s an older house but structurally it’ll last forever. Plus, the place had been totally renovated. The house was just everything we had ever wanted when it came to space and location. So we took the chance and put all our money into buying a place. The mortgage was indeed steep but we made some lifestyle and spending habit changes to accommodate the mortgage. However, we couldn’t have seen the pandemic coming. With pay cuts and working from home in our own air conditioning, there was no margin for error when it came to finances. This house has a finished basement with its own entrance. Now we have a great apartment that nearly cover three quarters of the mortgage. It’s a huge weight off our budget and we also really like having a renter.

I just wish I had known that making the shift to a home gym would motivate me so much. Had I known that I would have made it home gym much sooner. My wife and I have enjoyed going to our local gym for years as it’s sort of a staple of our lives together. Our first date was at a gym in college. That gym might not even have had air conditioning as I recall. My wife really loved being a gym rat. And I was very much trying to be buff because that was the rage back then. One thing about this house that we could always count on was comfort.

It just feels good being inside this house. Part of the reason for that is great quality heating and air we’ve enjoyed all these years. And we recently had a changing of the guard when it came to the heating and cooling equipment. HVAC equipment we installed when we bought this house finally came to an end. 24 years is not too bad for a mid-level HVAC unit. All the seasonal maintenance sure made a difference and I’m glad that became a habit. About halfway into the HVAC service life, we signed up for an HVAC Service plan. This makes HVAC maintenance consistent for each season. Still, I wasn’t all that wild about replacing the HVAC unit because of all the hassle. This ended up being nothing to worry about because the HVAC professionals were on top of everything. We only had two meetings with HVAC contractor and from there he took care of all the business. But I will say I took a moment to salute the on HVAC unit for all the great heating and cooling for all those years. We chose all the latest and greatest when it came to the residential HVAC we have now. But, I could not ignore how much the old HVAC unit had given us. That HVAC equipment went for more than two decades without one single break down. For sure all that HVAC maintenance help. But still that’s some sort of streak. I’m glad to have the very latest in HVAC technology but I’m sure thankful for what we were lucky enough to have first.

Even before I ever considered making an offer on this place, I knew it was going to come with some work. There was simply no way around that. But if it took work to finally get out of apartments with poor heating and cooling, then so be it. So I knew I had plenty of support from friends who have been through all of this before. I guess I’m sort of late to this whole homeownership thing. I’m just now getting my new place in my early forties. Most of my friends have been living in their own air conditioning for more than a decade. But when you’re single and have one income, that makes it tough to own your own air conditioning. But finally, I had enough for a down payment in order to start looking for a house to call my own. The first three or four months were nothing but disappointment. I found nothing in my price range. And if it was in my price range it didn’t fit my lifestyle. When I came into this place, it was like I was at home. I was game for the idea of all the renovations from the very beginning. Once I closed on this house, my first call was to the HVAC company. For sure, the HVAC equipment had to be replaced. It was a central air conditioning system that looked like it had seen better days. Of course it had to go. But it turns out the ductwork wasn’t up to par so we had to make a quick pivot. Having my best friend also be my wife makes me a very lucky man indeed.

We’re lucky to have a lovely home with quality heating and air along with plenty of other amenities.

But our children are mainly the focus of our life. I work hard inside the commercial HVAC of my office in order to provide for my family. That means when it comes time for vacation, I completely focus on my family. But still, my wife knows me. She knows that I don’t need much at all when it comes to vacation. All I want are clean accommodations, access to swimming in a lake or an ocean and lots of great air conditioning. Throw in some really good food and good weather to make it just a perfect vacation. My wife really hooked us up this past summer. We took two weeks before the kids go back to school for vacation. And this summer, we went to the beach where my wife got the best vacation rental we’ve ever stayed. The place was perfectly located in also came with amazing heating and cooling system. The house even have a small pool. But having the latest and residential HVAC really was something special in that place. There was a smart thermostat the control the HVAC. And there were separate thermostats in every room. That’s what I call air conditioning paradise. It’s been almost two months since we got back home from vacation. But I’m still thinking fondly on what a great time the whole family enjoyed. And it’s also made me consider getting zone controlled HVAC for my house as well.

For me, it all changed once I became a homeowner.

Having never been a parent or a husband, owning my own home was a big life changer for me.

And I take my HVAC responsibilities seriously. That means making sure the air filter is changed and all the air ducts are open and unobstructed. I even joined the HVAC service plan offered by my HVAC company. This ensures that I’ll get the proper HVAC maintenance which is also a very adult thing to do.

It makes it so that I do not have to run our central heating and a/c plan in the evening. Which in turn, saves on energy use and I can save currency when the energy bill comes in the mail the following week. I wish I had just spent the extra few bucks and purchased this brand of portable a/c plan in the first locale, even though I was trying to save currency.
