I have never laughed so hard as I did last week. I was crying and could barely breathe. A young HVAC technician was at my house last week. He was there to look at the air conditioning unit, but he couldn’t take his eyes off my daughter. My daughter and her friends were lying around the pool trying to get a suntan. When the door opened to let the HVAC tech out to the AC unit, my daughter sat up. I don’t think the young man had ever seen a girl in a bikini. He couldn’t concentrate on what he was doing. He must have let the screwdriver slip three times before he got the door open on the AC unit. I stood inside chuckling, but the real fun came once he got inside the air conditioning unit. My daughter stood up to come inside for a drink, and the boy’s jaw nearly dropped to the floor. I watched him stand up, and he appeared to be in a trance when he followed her to the doorway. She stepped over the doorstop, but he stepped sideways to watch her walk into the kitchen. His foot slipped on one of the pool toys and he landed in the trash can. My daughter ran out and put her hand out to help the HVAC technician out, but she ended up falling on top of him. I couldn’t help because I was laughing so hard I couldn’t catch my breath. When they finally got themselves out of the trash can, my daughter ran to her bedroom. The HVAC technician apologized and told me he had to go back to the HVAC company, but he’d be back.

Summer showed up without me even noticing.

Things had been so topsy-turvy at the house, that I didn’t have time to think. It started right after Christmas when the furnace broke. I called the HVAC company. They told me they could have someone at the house by 8 AM the next morning. That was perfect. I wouldn’t need to take off work if he was there by 9 AM. When he didn’t show up by 11 AM, I had to leave. I had to be at work by 11:30. I had a note on my door when I got home that the HVAC tech had been there at 11:50 AM. I needed to call the HVAC company and discuss my not being available and if I wanted another appointment. I called the HVAC company and told them his arrival was 8 AM, and I had to be at work by 11:30. Had I known he was going to be so late, I may have had someone house sit for me. She asked if I wanted another appointment, and all I could think was, ‘DUH!!!’. I said yes, please, instead. How did she think my furnace was going to be fixed? I didn’t have Elves in my basement. Two appointments later, the HVAC company finally got someone to the house. He told me I needed a new furnace and he would need to order one. It is now summer, and I got a phone call to tell me my furnace had been delivered and they would install it in two days. I thanked them for their expediency in getting the furnace, but I said no thank you. I had already called a different HVAC company.

Easter was supposed to be filled with fun and family.

My Easter was starting out as fun, and our family was here.

The big difference was when my air conditioning unit quit running. It was hot for Easter, and without the air conditioning, my chocolate eggs were melting, the butter sculpture was melting, and dinner was a bust. My grandparents had to leave early because they both had heart conditions, and mom and dad had to take them home. My Easter was ruined because of the air conditioner, but everyone told me I was being over dramatic. I had a twenty pound turkey that my husband and I could never consume. I had four of the five pounds of mashed potatoes sitting on the table, and more side dishes than we would eat in a year. I forgot I had asked my brother to come to Easter dinner. He is usually with his friends or working. When I heard him yelling at me and telling me to come to the table because he didn’t want to eat alone,I walked in. He sat there and waved at me and asked if anyone remembered he could have saved the day. He was an HVAC technician, and the only reason he was an hour late was because he had an emergency to attend to. I asked if he had time to look at the air conditioning unit, he grinned. I sent half the food home with him; once he fixed the air conditioning. I figured between him and his roommates, it would be gone before the night was over.

I had an appointment for a job interview at the HVAC company.

Unfortunately, in my excitement over getting an interview, I forgot to ask for their address.

I had to find the HVAC on my phone, and get the address. I was already five minutes late before I left the house. I had their phone number in my phone, but I didn’t want to make a phone call while driving. I picked up the phone and talked into it. I told the phone I wanted the phone number to the local HVAC company, but it gave me the wrong phone number.I gave up and decided to explain what had happened when I got there. I was half an hour late, and upset with myself. The receptionist asked me to sit and wait. Sweat was pouring down between my shoulders, and I was sure my pits were soaked through. When I was finally asked into his office, I apologized for my lateness and my appearance. I told him what had happened, and then that my nerves always made me sweat. He told me he didn’t have a lot of time, and he wanted to just discuss my qualifications for the job. I gave him my references and my paperwork with my qualifications. He gave me a second look after looking over my paperwork. After telling him I had recently moved to the area, he lightened up a bit. I also told him this was the only HVAC company I was interested in working for. He hired me on the spot.

I couldn’t believe the mold that was settling on window ledges and walls. I knew it was humid in the house, but I didn’t know what to do. I had called the HVAC company, but they didn’t have anyone to come out right away. It was less than a week since my air conditioning unit quit working properly, yet the mold was already there. I knew I would probably need mold remediation once the air conditioning unit was fixed, but I had no choice. I was thrilled when the HVAC company called and told me they had someone who could come to my house that afternoon. I waited for the technician to show up, thinking I could see the mold and mildew spreading while I waited. I was using vinegar water to wipe everything down, including my table legs. I had a vintage 1950s table and chair set, and the metal was rusting. I could only hope the HVAC technician would arrive soon. When he finally arrived, my house smelled like vinegar, and I apologized. He told me this had happened at his house, but he still had to call a remediator to help get rid of the mold. It was inside the closets, and on everything. I was worried nothing was going to fix the mold problem I already had. An hour later, he had the air conditioning unit running, but he said I would need a new one. He had only done a temporary fix until we could have a new AC unit installed. I now had to pay for a new AC unit, and mold remediation company.

I called the HVAC company, but they had no one available until the following day.

I had a newborn baby girl, and I couldn’t keep her in the house without any air conditioning. I looked out and realized there was an HVAC technician at my neighbor’s house. I went over and knocked on her door. She cooed over the baby as she was letting me in. I asked if I could talk to her HVAC technician. She agreed if I would let her hold the baby. I walked outside and asked him if he could work on my air conditioner. I told him I was a single mom with a newborn, but the HVAC company said they had no one available to work on my air conditioner. He told me he was stuck in the yard working on this one. He had two more houses to go to, and he couldn’t just skip them. I was pleading with him to please help me and fix my air conditioning unit. I knew he was uncomfortable, but it wasn’t safe for my daughter. He finally told me he would return and work on the air conditioning unit, but it wouldn’t be until 6PM. I thanked him profusely, but I couldn’t take my baby back to that house. I asked my neighbor if we could stay here until the HVAC technician came back. She told me to get everything I needed for the baby and then come back. She was babysitting until I returned.

It was my first time out without a mentor, and I was petrified. I thought it was difficult working on an HVAC system with the mentor, but this was even scarier. I was afraid I would make a mistake, and there would be no one there to point out what I had missed. I thought I had messed up because his eyes were trained on my every movement. Walking up to the door was scary. I had my new uniform on, and my ID badge was pinned to the pocket. I rang the doorbell, and waited for the client to come to the door. When he opened the door, he started to shut it again. I cleared my throat and asked if he had called for an HVAC technician. He said he had and told me he thought I was a kid selling something for school. I took a deep breath and smiled. After bolstering my courage, I told him I was the HVAC technician and pointed to my badge. He invited me in and told me what was happening with his air conditioning unit. He showed me where it was, and I went to work. Halfway through my inspection, I realized I didn’t have the part I needed to make the repair. I apologized for my mistake, but he didn’t mind. He was glad to find out what was wrong with the AC unit, and asked when I would return. I told him it would be less than an hour, and I was right. I returned with the part, and quickly repaired the air conditioning unit. He gave me an excellent review on our website.

It was a full blown miracle i’ll tell you! I actually for the first time in years rode the public moveation bus to as well as from work this past week because my motorcar was in the shop for repair; And wow! The bus actually had quality a/c! This was something I was not used to, and i had not ridden on any form of public moveation in at least 30 years since I was a teenager. And back then the a/c on the buses were actually hell as well as awful! I never thought I would see the day where any kind of public moveation had quality a/c. I am pretty sure that the heating in the winter time months of the year is also great or at least improved. I feel as the years went on as well as heating as well as a/c technology advanced they took good advantage of it as well as ended up fixing the ongoing issue with bad heating as well as a/c that they have had well before I was even born. I am going to bet that all this replace of indoor comfort on the bus must have happened sometime in the last 10 years or so when heating as well as a/c technology had been at its best as well as most big rise in history. It would all make sense happening around this time frame of things. I may not have an issue taking the bus in the winter one week if my motorcar ever has to go into the shop again at that point if their heating is going to be just as good as the a/c was!
