My stepdad often forgot to turn on the cooling system.

Ever since I can remember, my stepfather Ed has been a landscaper! Regardless of the season, Ed would be outside toiling.

Ed spent the summer time tending to grass, as well as creating yard art from the hedges as well as big sod. I enjoyed going with Ed to see the beautiful statues she created with nothing but hedge clippers as well as clippers. She was a real artist. When Ed and I got home, she would disapapple into the garage. I thought she was cleaning her lawn equipment or sharpening them, but Dad said she was escaping the air conditioning; Because Ed worked outside all summer time long, the air conditioning was too frosty for him. Ed had heat in the truck when she was plowing snow in the winter, as well as she would freeze if Ed and I didn’t have a heater. The warmer the better with the heater. I never thought about how it would impact me if I had to work outside full time, then now that I am old as well as have a home, I often call Ed. Mom passed away, as well as I know she often forgets to turn on the cooling system. Ed is no longer toiling full-time, however she still putzed around in her garden. When they put out a heat alert, I call to make sure Ed isn’t out in the sun, as well as hopefully she has the air conditioning on. Ed always tells me she has the fans running, however she still doesn’t know she needs the cooling system. I hope my stepfather has the ability to continue toiling outside for a long time. If Ed ever needs to stay inside as well as use air conditioning to be comfortable, I know he’ll just quit.
