My Heating and Air Conditioning dealer is running a special this month, and I can hardly believe it. I have been using the same Heating and Air Conditioning dealer for years now and I cannot remember them ever running a special on a furnace tune up or a cooling system tune up in all this time. I know I just always assumed that they did not need the extra money so that was why they never had any kinds of specials running, but now I do not know if that was the case at all. Maybe they just did not want to spend any of their money on advertising dollars, at this point, they still do not seem like they need the business but they are running a crucial special. When I first saw that they were going to be having this heating tune up special I was shocked. I am legitimately going to be taking the fortune of the special, since I would absolutely pay to have my furnace tuned up by them anyway at full price! That is what I have been doing for the past five years anyway, but once I found this Heating and Air Conditioning dealer, and I liked the people there and the high quality of the tasks that they have done for me, I decided to use them anyway. I have been using them for all of my Heating and Air Conditioning needs, even though they are not exactly the cheapest guys around. I firmly believe in high quality workmanship over the pricing of the products or service. That’s how I have always been and I don’t mind paying more for things if they are worth it. The indoor air quality in my cabin is easily important to me and so that’s why I don’t mind paying more! However, if I can get this heating tune up at a good deal then I legitimately will.

At this point, I’m pretty much resigned to the fact that the heat and humidity will be here in just a matter of weeks.

I’m not sure about whether or not I believe the Almanac but we’re supposed to be in for an even hotter, drier Summer this year.

Thankfully, this only lasts through September. Toward the end of that month, I notice the heat pump demand for air conditioning is decreasing. This is also the beginning of the best 8 months of weather. Yet, to get to that beginning, I have to deal with this beginning as Summer is just about here. The air conditioning has been on some here and there. But it’s still nothing like July and August. I’ve already had the HVAC maintenance done to the heat pump. So that part of the plan is good to go. I’ve also sealed up the house in order to further maximize the heat pump’s efficiency. Just last week, I started getting in the habit of pulling the blinds before I head off to the commercial HVAC of the office each morning. That’s a practice that saves a lot on cooling costs by stopping the direct sunlight heating. But really, if you don’t pay close attention to the thermostat setting, all the other cost saving steps are rendered pretty moot. Having a smart thermostat would be awesome. But until I get that HVAC equipment upgrade, I’ll stick to programming the digital thermostat and keeping my eye always on the setting. From here on out, it’s Summer mode in this house and that means all efforts are toward saving on air conditioning costs.

When we first moved into this house, I had so many big plans.

While I was able to get great HVAC equipment put in as well as the giant deck we always wanted, our motivation quickly waned.

But my wife and I both spend lots of hours inside the commercial HVAC of our work space. Then, the kids came along and all those upgrades to our home took a back seat. Down in the basement, there is sort of a frozen moment in time. When we first moved in here, I scoured yard sales and the internet to find used exercise equipment. And I put together a bit of a home gym in the basement. It got used maybe a half dozen times before it got lost down there in all our other junk. Well, early this Spring, I vowed to change all that. In fact, I called the HVAC company to set up the HVAC maintenance appointment early. And that’s not all that I had them do. The HVAC professionals actually installed a ductless heat pump down stairs in the basement when they were doing the air conditioning tune up. This motivated me to spend an entire weekend cleaning up and cleaning out the basement. After the ductless heat pump was put in, I had the quality heating and air that got me to revisit the workout equipment. It’s been a few months now and I’m so pleased to actually come home, change my clothes and get in a workout. This has really helped me get in better shape. Plus, I’m enjoying so much more energy thanks to that ductless heat pump and my daily workouts.

I’m on a fairly limited income right now.

My job got caught back on hours over the past couple of months and I’ve had a lot of expenses with my medical problems.

Every time I go to the doctor I have to pay a copay. Originally my copay was only $25. This was with my old insurance plan and I preferred the options I was given back then compared to now. Because now I have a different insurance plan and my co-pays with my doctors are twice as much money. It’s frustrating having to pay $50 every time I want to see the doctor. Since I’ve had to go to three different doctors this month, that’s $150 just for doctor visits. And that’s after insurance has already paid their portion. I have no idea what I’m going to do financially over the next two years. My health makes it really hard for me to work more than I already do, and I’m not eligible for any kind of disability benefits. Right now I need to save for a new air conditioner for my house. My HVAC system is falling apart since it’s already 16 years old at this point. Sometimes you can get an air conditioning system lasting well into 20 years but this one is not an example of that. I am definitely going to need to replace it in the next two years but I don’t know how to do it. I could try saving, but I need every last dollar I make right now to go towards my current expenses.

Virtually nothing out of my current rotation of products has gone down in price in the last year or so.

Practically everything has gone up in price and is continuing to go up in price as time has gone on. I don’t know of any cases of reverse inflation or deflation. I think gas has gone up and down a few times, but it’s already back up to just shy of $4 a gallon in my area. That makes it really hard for me to budget driving out of town to get groceries or to stop at other types of stores or businesses. I can’t visit my friends either. Most of them live at least 20 minutes away from me and that’s a huge expense with gas. They’re all hurting from inflation too. I think everyone right now around my age is struggling financially. The one thing that did go down in price recently though is my air conditioner filters. They had gone up and by at least 30% of their original price, but then just recently they dropped by $2 of peace. It’s not a huge decrease and it definitely does not bring them back to their original price, but it’s much better than what it used to be. If the air conditioner filter stays at this price or goes down even further, things will be much better than they were for my HVAC expenses. I still have to pay high electricity costs just to keep the air conditioner running though. That’s going to stay the same for the foreseeable future.

This was my dad’s favorite lunch, served with some tomato soup, and I eat it a few times a week to honor dad’s palette.

I also like to eat a big salad for lunch and am constantly at odds as to which lunch I will eat each day. Salads take a bit more work than the grilled cheese sandwich, but they are much healthier, so I try to eat a salad at least four times a week. My HVAC worker friend eats a salad every single day and she is really healthy and looks amazing for how old she is. She just turned 67 years old last week and she does look like she is in her 60s but she looks really healthy and fit. My HEPA filter just bit the dust and I am going to visit the old HVAC supplier to see the old gal and to buy me a new washable filter. I’m listening to my band’s song called Money as it inspires me to make more good songs like it. Money buys things like space heaters and a/c repair, but what we give up to make all of this money robs us of our energy and time. I wish we didn’t have to focus so much time and energy on money and more time doing things that we love like making music and doing sports. I’m off to the HVAC business now for the filter, see ya.

I must be doing something right with my music because some pretty 23 year old girl asked me for my number. She actually just wants to sing with us when we play on the streets, but it is still kind of flattering to have a pretty lady ask for my number. Anyways, today is business as usual with my work online and my daily chores and then I am going to hit the beach at 5pm for some games in the sand. Today is a nice day and this town is going to light up soon with local businesses getting busy and lots of new fresh faces coming in for the summer season. It should be a fun summer with our band playing music in the streets and my friends and I playing volleyball in the sand. As long as my body holds out and my HVAC tech job keeps moving along I should have a good summer season here in our little sleepy beach town. Today I am just going to work for about another two hours max and then take a nap before heading to the beach to play some ball. The heating and cooling supplier is not open till next week for inventory, so that means that my work as an HVAC specialist there is going to be put on the back burner for a while till they do their thing. I will have an easy day at the beach and do a little workout before we start playing ball this afternoon. I wish you happiness and patience in life.

I’ve been hiking since I was a teen, and we went for the first time with my parents.

I bought this cabin that came with 10 acres of land in a semi-rural area. The first thing I had to do with the cabin was upgrade it, followed by figuring out the heating and cooling. There was a stove, and window AC in the cabin when I bought it. But, I needed more modern HVAC systems, so I contacted a friend who is an HVAC tech for assistance. If I needed a central HVAC, I’d need to add ductwork to the cabin which wasn’t cheap. Luckily, there was an alternative and I could use ductless cooling and heating units to keep the space comfortable. Ductless units were a life saver since I didn’t need to spend so much money on ductwork installation.
