From our experience, this summer time has to be the most comfortable of all of them since we’ve been residing way out here.

Living off the grid has been something of a lifetime pursuit that we turned into reality.

It took a mixture of luck, hard work, and persistence for any of this to happen. Even with all the knowledge we gathered, understanding and excellent planning, it still comes down to having enough cash. I was working for a commercial Heating and A/C for a company in town but I just had no interest in it. While I was happy to have perfected my skills working at the HVAC office, that’s as far as it went. As you can imagine, I’m not exactly a corporate type of person. But I had to have the money. Then, just as I was thinking I’d never get out there, a relative died and left me almost the exact amount of money that I needed to finalize my move off the grid. That’s been over one decade ago now and we’ve learned a lot along the way. We are now able to do all of our work from my cabin thanks to satellite WIFI. That was a big bonus as we would have to get to the nearest community just to get a signal to work. The other thing was installing a ductless heat pump this Spring. An old friend of mine is an HVACprofessional and he helped me install it. Of course, we had a wood stove for heating. But having that ductless heat pump and the air conditioner this summer time was critical

Sometimes life can make you happy.

• Of course, like everyone else, I didn’t see the pandemic coming.

But it happened and I had to adjust just like the rest of the world. Almost instantaneously, the company I worked for closed the offices and we had to go home to figure out how to work remotely. That meant no more working from the zone controlled HVAC office I was used to. And that wasn’t all because I had to share my condo office with youngsters who didn’t want to study in the central air conditioning room of our house. As if that’s not enough, my spouse and I were both trying to share the office in our house but were struggling because of the uncommon styles of working. Ultimately, this led me to think of making a mancave in the basement. The first thing I had to do though was to get some good heating and cooling down there. The HVAC company was instrumental for this as they came out and helped install a ductless heat pump for me as part of the beginning. Over the first months of that summer, I started filling out that home office gradually. Working from the cabin worked for me. So when the company eventually laid people off, I was ready. For years I had planned to leave the company I worked for and go out on my own in a sort of free lance style. Some would call it being a consultant but I’m a bit more services oriented than just that. Still, I knew that I would have to begin from the cabin office with maybe a few friends. So the pandemic sort of gave me a head-start on what has become a rather successful business for me. Besides the success, I’m just so fulfilled working for myself and having to finally follow my passions.

There comes a point while in the Summer time where I am ready for fall weather and snow, living in the south can be very hard in the heat.

It’s only been a month into Summer and I’m already wishing that fall will come.

The fall is still kind of tepid but it is much more milder and there is not as much humidity as the summertime… During the winter I like to go up North and visit my parents! My parents live up there and they have a small house right on a lake. My associate and I like to go up there while in Christmas time since my associate and I don’t get any snow in the south. When my associate and I are at their house my associate and I help them decorate the Christmas tree and wrap presents for the rest of the family. My associate and I also like to feel the warmth of a heating system. My associate and I have no heating system in our house. My associate and I have just pretty much an cooling system since my associate and I never experience uneven temperatures that are below 60 degrees. Having the comfort of a heating system is so relaxing. I love to lay on the couch and learn a book and have the heating system going and my parents fireplace going as well. Hopefully someday my associate and I will be able to move to a state where it experiences all four seasons. I would love to be able to use a heating system and air conditioning throughout the entire year. Sometimes my parents have difficulties with their heating system and they like to have to get it evaluated before every season from their local Heating & A/C specialist.

I thought graduating from university a semester early before all of my friends was going to be a piece of cake, however unfortunately it has not, then trying to find a task before I have to pay my student loans in a couple of months has been a pain.

I’ve applied to over fifty tasks, been on at least twenty interviews plus still nothing! It’s ok, I’m not going to supply up just yet.

While I’m trying to find a task that I went to university for I’ve been toiling a few nights of week bartending. Bartending is fun at times however on weekends it gets really busy. The tips that I make are wonderful plus I save them on the side to beginning paying off my student loan… Last week I had training plus the first evening that I was there I was chilly. I asked the manager who was training me if the heat was on… She told me that it wasn’t plus that they weren’t going to put it on until more clients showed up! I already knew from a few other people that she wasn’t a fine manager. I won’t be here really long it’s only until I find a task. But what kind of manager doesn’t put their Heating plus A/C system on. I could see the temperature control from the bar. You don’t know how badly I wanted to put the temperature up high. It was set to 67 degrees even though I was cold. After about an hour more people showed up. The manager went to the temperature control plus flipped on the switch for the boiler to go on.

I decided to call out an Heating & A/C worker to have the inside of the condenser device cleared of all debris and cleaned thoroughly, but when he came out, he also recommended me that certain bushes and shrubs and even a nearby overhanging tree easily needed to be pruned to prevent the opening of branches or leaves or sticks clogging up or causing harm to the outdoor components of the Heating & A/C system, however in fact, he admonished me that I was fortunate that the extreme storm that had blown through had not caused any harm to my Heating & A/C system. He also showed me how to disconnect the grill from the outdoor condenser device so that I can disinfect it out myself in the future. He told me that I needed to shut off the Heating & A/C device first before opening up the condenser unit, because I easily would not want those fan blades going when I’m trying to clean! It may seem like an obvious tip, but I loved it, because I can be absent-minded!

The things that I legitimately despise the most is cooking & grocery shopping.

I always find it hard to come up with meals & time to cook.

If I ever win the lottery someday I will absolutely hire someone to do all my grocery shopping & cooking. One of the main reasons why I’m not a big fan of grocery shopping is the fact that while you’re there, you experience so more than 2 different temperature swings, but when I’m in the beauty aisle I start to feel warm. I shall look up on the ceiling when I’m in the beauty aisle & i’ll see more than 2 air registers & you can absolutely tell it’s releasing sizzling air. When I go into the produce & frozen meat aisle it’s a completely different story. I shall look up at the ceiling & I won’t see any air registers although I can feel the refrigerators & freezers let off unquestionably frigid air. I wonder if someday grocery stores will have heating & cooling systems where the temperature in the grocery store will remain the same. Maybe for the freezer area the grocery store will look into installing energy-efficient freezers; Just think of all of the energy that is being wasted when the freezers do not have any doors on them. If this type of freezer case is changed, the grocery store will save time & money & maybe they can put some of that money towards a more efficient Heating, Ventilation & A/C system. Something needs to be done about the wide range of temperature swings because I can’t tell you how more than 2 other customers complain about how cold & warm it gets.

I inherited a bunch of used furniture from my uncle’s estate after he passed away two years ago.

• Since he lived in a fairly affluent area, his cabin was just shy of decadent.

I was unquestionably shocked by some of the pieces that I was being provided when I arrived to look at it all. My entire living room now consists of items I got from my uncle’s estate when he passed—a couch, recliner, mahogany tea table, 55” 4k television and stand, and love seat made out of suede. I was even provided a pool table and nearly cried when I determined that I couldn’t fit it in my household no matter how strenuous I tried. I went from room to room and measured in vain, only to realize that it was unquestionably too large to fit in my house. This is after years of wanting to play pool at cabin because I don’t like having to visit a pool hall just to play one of my preferred games again. After my uncle’s estate finished giving me a brand current bed and desk for my kitchen, they provided me a barely-used window a/c as well. I was shocked because I would have been convinced that it was recently unboxed if they hadn’t told me otherwise. It’s an harshly strong window a/c and I was able to put it in my basement to get rid of the inefficient portable a/c that I was using down there previously. While I unquestionably don’t need a cooling system in the basement during the Autumn, winter, and Springtime, it unquestionably comes in handy during our hot and humid summers. Basements are notorious for high humidity, which is why so many people use dehumidifiers in these spaces if they’re not already using a/c like I am.
